Green Business Opportunity Platform
The Green Business Opportunity Platform is a central hub for reviewing Croatian and European strategies, calls for proposals, and funding opportunities focused on sustainable business, green growth, the circular economy, and climate neutrality.
Developed as part of the European AshCycle project, under the component aimed at addressing non-technological barriers to the development of the circular economy, the platform was created and is managed by GTF – Initiative for Sustainable Growth. Its mission is to stimulate local entrepreneurship, expand knowledge, and support the development of sustainable business models.

About the AshCycle Project
Project Title: AshCycle – Integration of Underutilized Ashes into Material Cycles by Industry-Urban Symbiosis

The AshCycle project addresses the growing challenge of managing waste generated from the incineration of biomass, municipal solid waste and sewage sludge — amounting to as much as 25 million tonnes annually in Europe. Currently, most of this ash is either unused or applied in low-value applications.
The main barriers to its reuse include:
- Low public awareness of the safety and environmental friendliness of the final products
- Lack of harmonized regulations
- Market unpreparedness to accept waste as a raw material resource
AshCycle aims to develop, implement, demonstrate, and replicate innovative solutions based on the principle of industrial–urban symbiosis. The project involves activities in eight countries: Denmark, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and South Africa.
By enabling the market uptake of ash-based products, AshCycle contributes to greater acceptance of secondary resources and raises awareness of their importance in a sustainable and circular economy.
